Certification happens in three easy steps:
In our PADI Open Water Diver course, your Instructor takes you through the basics of learning how
to scuba dive. You start in a pool and progress to the open water, getting the background knowledge
along the way.
In the classroom, you'll learn some basics about how the body works underwater - essentially
you're taught the effects of pressure on the body. In the pool, you'll put that knowledge to practical
applications, learning how to clear your mask, how to equalize pressure in your ears, how to ascend
and descend safely, how to control your buoyancy. Next are your training dives, where your instructor will once again be right by your side making sure you are comfortable. Here you will demonstrate
the same basic skills you've been practicing in the pool. And there you'll be, swimming and
breathing like a Fish, suspended in a dazzling new world. Prepare for amazement. To get started,

• The steps it takes: Knowledge development and Pool training will need to be completed
prior to the Four Open Water Dives
• Prerequisites: 10 years old for Junior Open Water Diver and 15 years old for Open Water
Diver. Good health, reasonable fitness and comfort in the water.
